Dubai-based Jumeirah Group announced last Friday that it has added five new hotels into its fold, bringing the total number of new properties under development to 19.

The five new hotels and resorts – Jumeirah Bali Resort in Indonesia, Jumeirah Maldives Resort in the South MalĂ© Atoll, Jumeirah Al Salam Resort in Bahrain, Jumeirah Al Salam Yiti Resort in Oman, and Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel in Kuwait – are scheduled to open over the next three years.

News of the five additions followed recent announcements by the Group of its new hotels in Guangzhou, Glasgow and St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Four of the five properties have been slated for opening in 2010. The Group is poised to welcome its first hotel in the Asia-Pacific region – the Jumeirah HanTang Xintiandi in Shanghai – come early 2009.

Currently, Jumeirah operates 11 hotels and resorts globally but expects to increase this number to 60 properties, either in operation or under development by 2012.
